2025 University of Oregon Student Group Excellence Awards
Thank you for your interest in the UO Student Group Excellence Awards. Awards are made possible by a generous gift from William D. Rutherford (UO class of 1961) in collaboration with the EMU and ASUO. UO Student Group Excellence Awards recognize student groups that inspire and engage others, promote inclusion and diversity, and create a fun and positive environment for all students.
Eligibility: Any student group with at least 5 current student members that is officially affiliated with UO, and can be verified through the university's online student organization platform, is eligible to apply.
Award Categories:
$1000 Outstanding Student Organization
$500 Excellence in Creative Co-Sponsorship
$250 Excellence in Community Impact
$250 New Student Organization of the Year
This is a competitive process and only one cash award will be made in each category. If you are selected to receive an award, funds may be used to celebrate your group’s success or strengthen and expand your mission and work.
Funds must be used before the end of the 2025-2026 academic year.
Funds may not be used for:
• the purchase of alcohol, firearms, fire hazards, or any illegal substance
• travel that does not support the group's educational mission
• the purchase of furniture (unless pre-approved by the EMU House Committee)
• gift cards (treated the same as cash) unless recipients are willing to assume tax liability
Winners will be asked to share award impact with future applicants.
Application Deadline: April 13, 2025 Your application must be received by the deadline. If your application is submitted after the April 13, 2025 deadline, it will not be accepted. We treat all applications in the same way, we apply the rules consistently to everyone, and we do not make exceptions.
